Honesty and Deception
Architecture will always create something special to the world in many ways maybe by using the art way, design ability or maybe the use of materials. “Honesty” and “Deception” in architecture will always be shown in different ways, especially when the world is changing year by year and technology are modern enough to produce more powerful product or material rapidly. Works of architecture should always have good intentions for the advancement of society which honesty and deception will always be represented and be see in different ways in Architecture is only base on what human feels.

What is the role of honesty and deception in architecture today?
Honesty is the using the truth of the material thus having the truth function of it. The role of the honesty is use the material and structure based on its properties and quality which the material and structure will show the characteristic of the built up building. Honesty will not pretend to be other thing else just like actual steel is steel it will not be cover. For deception is the use of some ornament material to cover up the building façade or structure just for decoration purpose. So, the role of the deception will be just a form of art used as façade instead of providing function based on its property. Its is for design purpose and will not leave the raw material as the expose face.
Honesty and deception are mainly based on the expression of structure. Structural honesty is based on its truth purpose and not be decorative which also have bring the functional idea that a building shall shaped in a basis of intended function which also known as “form follow function”. In honesty, material that are use should base on their properties and characteristic and shall not be substitute for others material.
Building that I know is based on honesty are sekeping serendah,seremban and sekeping kong heng, ipoh. The architect are using raw material as the end product by not using any others material to add a layer of finishes to cover it. The architect want to show the raw material at the same time its functional which the architect respect the material and have a nice idea of using raw material instead of using machine made items.
For deception , it basically act as a decoration purpose and have no function in it. Deception is also an material than can easily get compare to honesty which it can made look alike raw material or act as a cover surface of the original structure. Building that I know which are deception are Kluczynski Federal Building,Chicago and building that design by Zaha Hadid. Kluczynski Federal Building,Chicago are The vertical I-beams on the exterior surface that travel across the entire façade serve as decoration with no function in it. It is pleasant to view and the I-beams structure contributes to the overallness.
Zaha Hadid’s building design are all organic form and all the main structure of her building are all fully cover the façade of the building which are machine made material at the same time it look modern
enough.
If a fourth text were added to this chapter, the argument about today’s architecture in relation to honesty and deception would be “Respect to every material that are used, not against”. Which every material they choose to use have a reason behind, not just apply on it for no purpose same goes to design.
